The Davidic Covenant, and the promises of God through the prophets and Angle Gabriel concerning the Messianic kingdom await fulfilment. The holy apostle, John, said of the church in Sardis, "These things saith he that hath the Seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou has a name that thou livest, and art dead.

Revelation 3:21 KJV

Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die; for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou has received and heard, and hold fast and repent. There may now and then be eminent judgments; but as a rule God does not in the present state fully punish any man for sin. He allows the wicked to go on in their wickedness; he throws the reins upon their necks; he lets them go on unbridled in their lusts; some checks of conscience there may be; but these are rather, as monitions than as punishments.

And, on the other hand, he casts the Christian down; he gives the most afflictions to the … Charles Haddon Spurgeon— Spurgeon's Sermons Volume 3: Commendation for the Steadfast The Philadelphian saints, like the limpet, which has but little strength, stuck firmly to the rock, and they are commended for it.

They had little strength, but they kept God's word, and they did not deny his name. Possibly if they had felt stronger they might have presumptuously quitted the word of the Lord for the opinions of men, as the Galatians did, and then they would have lost their reward. All they are enslaved who are possessors of riches, they who love themselves, the selfish, the curious, the restless; those who ever seek after soft things, and not after the things of Jesus Christ; those who continually plan and devise that which will not stand.

For whatsoever cometh not of God shall perish. Hebrews i. SOME thirty-five years ago, when the so-called "Higher Criticism" had begun its destructive work, a believer living in England, predicted that within thirty years the storm would gather over one sacred head. How this has come true! Satan's work of undermining the authority of the Bible, a pernicious work still going on, is but the preliminary to an attack of the Person of Christ.

To-day as never before the glorious Person of our Lord is being belittled in the camp of Christendom. We do not speak here of the New Testament. Nothing has contributed more to falsify and undermine faith in the Scripture and the orthodox view concerning it than the unhistoric and unnatural practise of considering the Scripture of the Old and the New Testament at the same time.

The Old Testament appears first; then came the Word in the flesh; and only after that the Scripture … Abraham Kuyper— The Work of the Holy Spirit Laodicea We reach, in this last Epistle, the lowest point of Judah's degradation, in that long line of departure from God, from the day Israel left her "first love," even the day of her espousals, when brought forth out of Egypt, down, down through one vast scene of idolatry and judgment, until we find that nation described in the Epistle to the Assembly in Laodicea in a condition of spiritual destitution such as characterised the People in the period of the Minor Prophets.

Indeed, so complete is the correspondence, … E.To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers.

Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges. Here are two thrones mentioned. My throne, saith Christ: this is the condition of glorified saints who sit with Christ in His throne. The promise of sharing the throne is the climax of an ascending series of glorious promises, which carry the thought from the Garden of Eden Revelation through the wilderness Revelationthe temple Revelationto the throne.

The promise bears marked resemblance to the language of St. Paul to the Ephesians Ephesians This crowning promise is made to the most unpleasing of the churches. But it is well that thus the despondency which often succeeds the sudden collapse of self-satisfied imaginations should be met by so bright a prospect. Though their religion has been proved an empty thing, there is a hope which may well drive away despair. The Church at Laodicea touched the lowest point of Christian character.

It had no heresies, but that was not because it clung to the truth, but because it had not life enough to breed even them.

It had no conspicuous vices, like some of the other communities. But it had what was more fatal than many vices - a low temperature of religious life and feeling, and a high notion of itself. Put these two things together - they generally go together - and you get the most fatal condition for a Church. A severe disease requires drastic treatment.

But the same necessity which drew forth the sharp rebuke drew forth also the loftiest of the promises. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald. A new heaven, and new earth: the new Jerusalem where God dwells, and banishes all sorrow from his people. The old world, with all its troubles and tumults, will have passed away. There will be no sea; this aptly represents freedom from conflicting passions, temptations, troubles, changes, and alarms; from whatever can divide or interrupt the communion of saints.

This new Jerusalem is the church of God in its new and perfect state, the church triumphant. Its blessedness came wholly from God, and depends on him.

revelation 3 21 kjv

The presence of God with his people in heaven, will not be interrupt as it is on earth, he will dwell with them continually. All effects of former trouble shall be done away.

They have often been in tears, by reason of sin, of affliction, of the calamities of the church; but no signs, no remembrance of former sorrows shall remain. Christ makes all things new.

Revelation 3:21

If we are willing and desirous that the gracious Redeemer should make all things new in order hearts and nature, he will make all things new in respect of our situation, till he has brought us to enjoy complete happiness.

See the certainty of the promise. God gives his titles, Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, as a pledge for the full performance. Sensual and sinful pleasures are muddy and poisoned waters; and the best earthly comforts are like the scanty supplies of a cistern; when idolized, they become broken cisterns, and yield only vexation.

But the joys which Christ imparts are like waters springing from a fountain, pure, refreshing, abundant, and eternal. The sanctifying consolations of the Holy Spirit prepare for heavenly happiness; they are streams which flow for us in the wilderness. The fearful durst not meet the difficulties of religion, their slavish fear came from their unbelief; but those who were so dastardly as not to dare to take up the cross of Christ, were yet so desperate as to run into abominable wickedness.

The agonies and terrors of the first death will lead to the far greater terrors and agonies of eternal death. Sometimes they sound the trumpet of Divine Providence, and warn a careless world; sometimes they discover things of a heavenly nature of the heirs of salvation. Those who would have clear views of heaven, must get as near to heaven as they can, on the mount of meditation and faith.

The subject of the vision is the church of God in a perfect, triumphant state, shining in its lustre; glorious in relation to Christ; which shows that the happiness of heaven consists in intercourse with God, and in conformity to him. The change of emblems from a bride to a city, shows that we are only to take general ideas from this description. The wall is for security. Heaven is a safe state; those who are there, are separated and secured from all evils and enemies.

This city is vast; here is room for all the people of God. The foundation of the wall; the promise and power of God, and the purchase of Christ, are the strong foundations of the safety and happiness of the church.

These foundations are set forth by twelve sorts of precious stones, denoting the variety and excellence of the doctrines of the gospel, or of the graces of the Holy Spirit, or the personal excellences of the Lord Jesus Christ. Heaven has gates; there is a free admission to all that are sanctified; they shall not find themselves shut out. These gates were all of pearls. Christ is the Pearl of great price, and he is our Way to God.

The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. The saints in heaven tread gold under foot. The saints are there at rest, yet it is not a state of sleep and idleness; they have communion, not only with God, but with one another.

All these glories but faintly represent heaven. And what words can more full express the union and co-equality of the Son with the Father, in the Godhead? I'd like to thank Sigfus for his help and patience. When I first reached out in January I wasn't certain if I wanted to take a self-drive or guided tour.

He patiently answered many of my questions. I'd also like to thank our guide, Christine. Overall we had a fantastic holiday, helped a great deal by the good weather. We had planned for a lot of rain, but we just followed the sunshine around the country. Moving on every day or two was quite hard work but because of doing that we saw a lot of the country - which we loved. Everyone we met was so friendly and enthusiastic, keen to talk to us and to tell us about themselves.

The fact that everyone spoke perfect English took a lot of the stress out of a foreign holiday and we would both love to be back there right now. The quality of the sunshine and the air was quite exceptional, the long sunny evenings were a bonus and the lack of crowds made such a pleasant change from England. The organisation of the holiday worked well, with trains, boats, planes and hotels all linking up well. In most cases we managed to walk from our hotels to railway stations.

We appreciate all the efforts Bjarni went through to make sure that our tour was very enjoyable. We had many upgrades and I believe that Bjarni was instrumental in making those happen.

Both trips with Nordic Visitor have been beyond expectations. They will always be my first choice for traveling in the Northern Countries. Overall, we were very happy with Nordic Visitor, especially with the itinerary materials we received on arrival and the seamless experience we had from arrival to departure.

The Garmin GPS we received with our car was very helpful, particularly in locating hotels and other necessities.

Thank you for the good map with all the suggested stops.
